Tim Coup

Tim Coup proudly serves as the Chief of Church Hill Rescue Squad, bringing over 17 years of dedicated service to the agency and a total of nearly two decades in emergency services. He has held multiple positions within the squad, and for the past four years, has led the agency with a focus on operational excellence, team development, and strong community engagement.

Since beginning his service in 2006, Tim has been actively involved in all aspects of emergency services—including EMS, fire, and rescue. In addition to his role at Church Hill Rescue Squad, he assists in commanding the Hawkins County Special Operations Task Force, providing leadership and support in high-risk and complex emergency situations across the region. He is also a proud member of the Mount Carmel Fire Department and the Carters Valley Volunteer Fire Department, where he continues to serve his community with passion and commitment.

Tim is drawn to the fast-paced, problem-solving nature of emergency response, especially the critical thinking required on scene. He also finds great purpose in the behind-the-scenes, day-to-day operations that ensure the agency runs smoothly and continues to grow. For Tim, every role—whether on the front lines or behind the scenes—is a valuable opportunity to serve and make a difference.

What drives Tim most is his love for the community he serves. He takes pride in seeing the positive outcomes the squad contributes to, and in helping others succeed—whether that's a fellow responder gaining confidence or a patient getting the care they need. Watching others excel and knowing the agency plays a part in those successes is one of the most rewarding aspects of his service.

In his free time, Tim enjoys the outdoors—hunting, fishing, hiking—and continues to dedicate his time to volunteering with the rescue squad. His unwavering commitment to service, no matter the role, reflects his belief that every act of service, big or small, helps build a stronger, safer, and more united community.
